Starting from Scratch: My Journey to Creating Anew

Starting from scratch can be a blessing, allowing us to create something entirely new from the ground up. Recently, I found myself in a situation I never expected—I had to move back home at the age of 25. It wasn’t part of the plan, and it wasn’t easy to accept. My room had essentially become a storage space, cluttered with clothes and other items. But I decided to make a change.

Cleared out the bed.

I cleared out everything and transformed my small room with the west-facing window into a studio. It’s now a space where I can create freely, a fully customizable place of my own. It’s small, but the possibilities are endless. There’s a lot of work to be done—installing a background paper mount, removing the carpet, adding hardwood floors, and applying a fresh coat of paint—but I’m excited about it.

The decision to move back home was tough. Living with my girlfriend was a struggle; I couldn’t provide as I wanted, and the daily fights drained my creative energy. Moving back meant being away from my daughter, not seeing her daily, which breaks my heart. But I carry her in my heart, knowing that every decision I make is for her benefit. My goal is to build a business that will give her the freedom to chase her dreams.

Life has felt like a series of losses in the past few years, but every small win today is one I don’t take for granted. Every step forward is a step toward turning my vision into reality—a beautiful estate with a studio, real estate under my name, and a legacy for my family. My world is full of pictures, and now I build with determination, even if it means building alone.

Being back home has its challenges. It’s not always easy, and sometimes it doesn’t feel like the healthiest environment. Growing up, I carried the mentality that the world around me was holding me back. It took a lot of introspection to realize that my perception was the issue, not the environment itself. Coming back with this new perspective has helped me take ownership of my space and turn it into something positive.

I’ve learned that pride in my space and in myself is crucial. It’s not about waiting for others to set things up for me—I have to take initiative. This journey has taught me to appreciate what I have and to find contentment within myself. It’s not about chasing a perfect life but recognizing the richness in what’s already here.

Creating in this small 11x11ft studio feels like the closest thing to home. It connects me to my roots and allows me to face my pain and trauma head-on. Despite the challenges, I’m rooted in my purpose, creating and hoping for something better. This space is my sanctuary, where I can share my work and continue to grow.

So here’s to new beginnings and small victories. Every moment is precious, and we move forward with gratitude, taking nothing for granted. Thank you for joining me on this journey. Welcome to my new studio setup—let’s create something amazing together.
